{WindowsXp Group} View hidden files and folders

I am having trouble viewing hidden files and folders on some machines.
They are Dell Optiplex 260's and 270's. When I go to view folders and
uncheck hide files and OS files and hit apply nothing happens. I dont
know if any1 has run into this before and what the fix is. I am
befuddled

This may happen in the case of certain viruses. Even if the infection
is removed, changes to the registry made by the virus remain and
prevent viewing of hidden files. There are tools available on the net
for restoring the registry ..
