to Windows XP
I have a Medion computer with XP Home.  It would not boot.  I then put the disk which came with it and tried booting it from the disk.  After going through several steps, it stopped and said," windows stopped to avoid damage to your computer."

VER-IRQL-NOT LESS OR EQUAL.

STOP - 0X000000DE1 (0X18F84B53.0X00000007.0X00000000.0X18F84.B53)

PCIIDEX SYS - Address  F87B5CCF base at F87B50000, Date Stamp 3b7d83e2

I tried again with same results.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

0X000000DE1 is a processor error for unknown stack of command but you are having this crash screen while you are trying to boot from cd this is a little bit unusual for this code .
I can suggest you  a few steps to solve this .
in the first step be sure that your optical drive is in proper condition ( many of these silly errors are coused by this ) find a xp that might run from cd  or from usb disk ( I suggest you Hiren for this if you have the same code bad news you will need a new processor if it boots take the next steps)
- make a bios update in case you might have a virus problem in your bios.
than try again (if it's possible try with a different cd set)
if it still persists than make a low level format to your hdd
regards.
