Had to use a PC with Microsoft's Windows XP with SP 3 installed on
it. (fresh install with wendor provided XP CD and I downloaded SP3
from a link which pointed to some sub domain some magazine's site)

I had tried to edit a page from that PC; since I had plenty of time on
hand.

But find that with the inscript layout, the zwj is not there at the
usual place.

Or, more accurately, using the AnjaliOld lipi (and couple of other
fonts from the Malayalam HOWTO page somewhere on ml.wikipedia.org
site,), cons+chandrakkala+] does not form the chilllu - what I get is
the explicit virama, and no fine line representing the zwj which I
would get on GNU/Linux system.

Tried this first with FF 3.x and IE (whatever comes with winXP + SP3)
and then on MS Word 2000.

Any pointers? (Ok, do not ask me to go to support.microsoft.com; I get
that machine probably once a month, and use only if I am in the mood
to).

I don't know about Inscript in MS. Do you get correct chillu in webpages - for example ml wikipedia?

Apologies for the delay. I do not have daily access to the system; and
yes, the pages were rendering properly, and after poking around a bit
in M$ Word and OO.o v. 3.1, I think the problem is that the keyboard
does not have a zwj.

I admit that this is confusing.
