1. Haitian government will no longer allow donations to come into the country:
That's not true. Donations will continue to arrive in Haiti. The company in Haiti or NGO receiving the goods must have tax exempt status in order not to pay taxes on items entering the country.
2. Talk to sister Alta
a. Need re-assessment: During the 1st weeks of the earthquake, the needs were mostly medical and water. Now, that people are adjusting to their new way of life, the needs have changed to other necessities like:
Air mattress, bed spread, tent, water container, water purifier, eating plates and utensils, clothing, books, school bags, luggage, anti-mosquito products. Think about the fact that people lost everything and have to start from scratch. What would one need if his/her house is completely destroyed and have to sleep outdoors for days? Of course, food and shelter are
always primary needs.
b. Security concern about the container when arrive in Haiti: Sister Alta will be in town on April 15. She will have all the details regarding how, where to ship the container, and how she will secure it in Haiti.
Thanks
