Hi Everyone,

 

The shipper can no longer come to the house tomorrow because of some issues they have at the port. At this point I have decided to go with another shipper that seems to be a little more on top of stuff. I'm really sorry for the short notice but as you can see from the e-mail below I just found out about this. I talked to the other shipper today and they are working on getting a truck out to us by the end of the week.

Our trucker is having a problem with the information sent to the port by the steamship line. We do not think it will be corrected before the port closes today to pick up the container to be loaded tomorrow.

Please cancel loading and we will be in touch to reschedule.

Hello Shella

It was a pleasure speaking with you.  Please find listed below our rate confirmation for 40' containers from Silver Springs, Md. to Port au Prince, Haiti.

1) $3,808.00 - Ocean freight - Baltimore, Md. to Port au Prince Haiti - per container
2)      400.00 - Round trip container drayage including drop and pick - per container
3)      150.00 - Documentation - per shipment
    $4,358.00 - Total transportation charges

Please note that the ocean freight and drayage quoted above are per container.  The documentation quoted above is per shipment, therefore, it does not matter how many containers you have on the shipment, the $150.00 charge is a flat charge.

The container drayage quoted above includes a drop and pick,  which means, the driver will drop the container in Silver Springs.  You will have a maximum of 3 days to load.  Once loaded you will give us a call to come pick up the container.  If you feel you can load the container within 2 hours, the driver can wait with the container while you load is is considered a live load.  A live load will be only $300.00 which you will save $100.00 per container.

Our warehouse is located in Baltimore, Md. if you need us to load your container for you.  You can deliver to our warehouse where we will load your container.  Our cost for loading will be $500.00 but your drayage will only be $225.00.

We have a weekly vessel with a transit time of 14 days to Port au Prince.  Your consignee will be responsible for clearing customs and arranging local trucking in Port au Prince.

Hi Everyone,

 

Unfortunately all 3 shippers i have worked with over the past month have drooped the ball in some way. From not calling back, not being able to provide information, and cancelling appointments last minute.  I have now moved on to shipper #4. They ship worldwide, have a good record at the BBB, and have been doing this for 30 years. I just spoke with the shipper and they informed me that before any containers can be loaded or shipped, they need to get clearance from Haiti. They need to speak with our consignee (Sr.Alta) and make sure someone will be able to pick up the container. I have provided him with that information, and once he gets the clearance he will be able to provide us with a loading date. Long story short...We are NOT loading the container this Monday. We also will NOT be meeting this Saturday.

 

I apologize for all the back and forth, the shippers were very unprofessional once they felt they had my business and informed me of several changes last minute. the only good thing is that has come from all of this is that at least I found out about them being unprofessional now rather than after we paid them.
