SHIIPPING TO HAITI

Hi Everyone,

 

I hope you all had a good Memorial Day weekend! We got approval to ship the container this past Friday. Approval occurred once Sr. Alta was able to get in contact with the shipper's office in Haiti and verify that she would be receiving the container. I spoke with the shipper today and they are in the process of scheduling a loading date with a trucking company for Friday June 4th or Monday June 7th. I requested that the loading take place in the morning regardless of which day they are available.They will let me know whether it is Friday or Monday sometime tomorrow.

 

The cut off date for the port is June 9th which means that the container needs to be loaded and back to the port by Wednesday June 9th. I hope to send an e-mail tomorrow letting everyone know whether loading will take place on Friday or Monday.

The trucking company just called me and they are able to load this Friday morning. Can you all please let me know ASAP if Friday works for you. They can be at my house between 8:00-8:30AM which means we would be done by 11:00AM.

The trucking company will be at my house at 8:00AM on Friday. For those than can help out please try and be on time, because we only have 2 hours to load the truck. The company will charge $55.00 an hour for any additional time we use. We will be hiring help for Friday morning also. Hope to see you Friday!

Hi Everyone,

 

WE DID IT!!!!! Thank you so MUCH to everyone who came out to help on Friday morning. The container was loaded to capacity in two hours thanks to the help of: Mr. Owens, Mrs. Lee, Jeff Lee Jr., Jamal Ajami, Ronald Emile, Felix Augustin, Robert Augustin, and Gilbert& Marie Augustin. We also took pictures and video taped segments of the process, everyone was able to say something regarding HUSH, which I think will come out nicely.

 

I spoke with the shipper today and provided him with an updated inventory list. He is expected to get back to me with sailing dates etc., I will pass on the information once I get it.

 

Again, thank you to EVERYONE for all their time and help in this tremendous effort to help the people of Haiti!

Hi Everyone,

 

 because many will not be available, and I actually have to go out of town this weekend below is a breakdown of what was to be discussed at the meeting.as well.

 

The container is expected to arrive in Haiti on July 1st or sometime around the 1st week of July. The shipping company will be sending me the original bills of lading which I then have to Fed EX over to Sr. Alta so she can  have them to unload the container. We will likely also be wiring her money for the cost of renting a truck to bring the container to the orphanage. I e-mailed her today explaining all of this and will have Ronald speak with her by the end of the week so she can let us know the costs of the truck and other shipping expenditures.The shipping company has an office in Haiti and Sr. Alta has been in contact with them to make sure she has everything she needs to get the container.

 

As far as travelling to Haiti, please let me know who is still interested in going and the time frame you are considering.

My husband and I are still interested in going to Haiti depending on the arrival date for the crate and the release date from customs. The other things that would factor into this scenario are….cost, accommodations and timing. We’ve got some events on the calendar that we cannot cancel (too much planning went into the process). Again, it all hinges on the arrival date of the container. Thanks!
