I've started an investigation into election campaign expenses in
Birmingham - http://helpmeinvestigate.com/investigations/174 - but the
plan is to do this in as many towns and cities as possible.

This investigation can have a real impact on how campaigning is
monitored. It will also send a strong signal about the ability of
online communities to monitor campaigning too.

Would you be up for doing it in your area?

I imagine most repro houses would let you photocopy to a memory stick?
Not sure what the charge might be. Scanner-printers are available for
£40 in Tesco too.

Sounds like something to kick up a fuss about.

Interestingly Ventnor Blog checked this out re: taking notes with the electoral commission & found that it was 'up to the discretion of the officer'

I've left Brighton and not moving to London permanently till October
so I don't think I'll get involved, but I'll pass message onto the
Brighton news groups I know ... J

Whenever I've researched election expenses (in Bristol) I've always had to sit in the electoral services office and take notes off original documents. Never been allowed to copy documents.

I'm going to view them on Wednesday next week.

£40 from Tesco isn't bad!
