Hi All,

I am sorry for sending an email off the subject of redistricting but
this is a very important issue and I know you will all agree. I just
learned of the board's desire to eliminate the "supervisor" positions
due to the budget cuts. I understand what a budget cut means and that
the money has to come from somewhere. However, under no circumstances
should the music supervisor position be cut! The music supervisor
holds the entire program together for the town across all the schools
and all the different grades. If this position were to be eliminated
we can all say goodbye to the wonderful music program as we know it.
I went through the township music system myself and I am thrilled my
daughter is currently involved and developing so much through the
program. I have maintained a relationship with a former music teacher
of mine for over 25 years and can attest to the importance of this
position. I cannot attest to the importance of any of the other
supervisor positions but know if you want to have a viable music
program in this town this position needs to be maintained. Please
support our music program we cannot let the arts suffer due to budget
constraints. Thanks very much for your attention.

Best Regards,

Eric Model

Eric,
I totally agree, but it is not my understanding that the music
supervisor role will be cut. Stephen was at the meeting and all
instructional aids are being cut and instructional supervisors such as
Mr. Frattini will probably be reorganized, but not eliminated. Let me
know if you know of something that we are not aware..

I thought that they said that some supervisors will be cut but didn't specify who just yet.  I think anyone who is not tenured is on the chopping block.  Dr. Jasin said that the elementary schools will have instructional supervisors but not necessarily those currently holding those positions.
