Everyone:
Please read the following notice from OME to faculty/staff using CampusPack in KSOL Classic:
After a long examination, K-State has determined that the use of CampusPack is no longer beneficial to K-State. The number of users for CampusPack is low and we can no longer justify the cost. K-State will no longer have access to CampusPack under our current contract by June 30th, 2015.
With courses moving from Classic to K-State Online Canvas, K-Staters now have the opportunity to use several 3rd-party blogging platforms. With Canvas, K-State can capitalize on the many great technologies available in consumer-level free blogs like Wordpress.com and Blogger.com. Students and faculty can use free Web 2.0 tools. K-State Online Canvas supports assignments that accept URLs as submissions so students can submit private or public blog/journal posts as assignments as an example of an option.
If you have been using CampusPack to enable students to maintain their own personal blogs, please encourage students to start their own blog on a free platform like WordPress.com or Blogger.com. They can post journals, reading reflections, and portfolio postings to their own site and submit to K-State Online as well as retain access to those materials even after they graduate.
If you would like to continue to use CampusPack at the department or college level, you will need to contact CampusPack directly to negotiate a license and pay the fees. Once you have paid for your CampusPack license, ITS will install CampusPack into Canvas for just your courses, for your department or college.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact Scott Finkeldei at cur...@ksu.edu
