Mostly remote. Project starts in 2 weeks
Rate : $90 per hr 
Duration : 12 Months

Project Overview

The client is undertaking a strategic initiative to replace functionality currently provided by the deprecated SAP Biller Direct module. SAP is decommissioning Biller Direct, and the organization requires a robust replacement solution built entirely within the existing SAP ECC environment.

This effort is part of the MCAP (Modern Customer Account Platform) program and involves close collaboration with multiple teams including:

  • Enterprise Applications MDT
  • PSS MDT
  • PSS MTT
  • MuleSoft Integration Team

The project focuses on rebuilding and enhancing existing Biller Direct capabilities using standard SAP ECC technologies and custom McKesson-developed objects (typically identified with the Y_FARF* naming convention).

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP ECC Techno-Functional Consultant to support the redesign and redevelopment of functionality previously delivered through SAP Biller Direct. The consultant will analyze existing Biller Direct processes and custom objects and implement equivalent solutions within SAP ECC.

The role requires strong expertise in SAP ECC development, interfaces, and custom enhancements, along with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless replacement of legacy Biller Direct capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Functional and Technical Analysis

  • Analyze existing SAP Biller Direct functionality and associated business processes.
  • Review standard Biller Direct objects and custom McKesson-specific objects with prefix Y_FARF*.
  • Understand current customer billing, account inquiry, payment processing, and self-service functionalities.
  • Translate business requirements into SAP ECC-based technical solutions.

SAP ECC Development

  • Design and develop replacement functionality entirely within SAP ECC.
  • Enhance and modify custom objects, programs, function modules, classes, BADIs, and user exits.
  • Build solutions leveraging standard SAP ECC frameworks and custom developments.
  • Perform impact analysis and recommend technical approaches.

Object Conversion and Rewrite

  • Rewrite and modernize existing Biller Direct components.
  • Refactor copied standard objects and McKesson custom objects.
  • Ensure compatibility with existing ECC architecture.
  • Preserve existing business functionality while improving maintainability.

Integration and Interface Support

  • Work closely with the MuleSoft team to support inbound and outbound integrations.
  • Coordinate with Enterprise Applications MDT, PSS MDT, and PSS MTT teams.
  • Support interface design and data exchanges between SAP and external systems.
  • Troubleshoot interface and communication issues.

Testing and Deployment

  • Participate in unit testing, SIT, UAT, and production support activities.
  • Prepare technical specifications and design documents.
  • Perform defect analysis and issue resolution.
  • Support cutover and migration activities.

Documentation and Governance

  • Develop functional and technical design documents.
  • Maintain object inventory and development standards.
  • Ensure compliance with SAP development best practices.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and support documentation.

Required Skills

SAP Expertise

  • 8+ years of SAP ECC experience.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Biller Direct or customer-facing billing applications.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP ECC architecture and custom development.
  • Experience with standard SAP objects and custom Z/Y developments.
