The CEGA Committee of AHEPA Toronto is now accepting nominations for the 2013 CEGA Awards.
The CEGA Awards were conceived with the inspiration of honouring top achievement by preeminent individuals, who have excelled in their respective fields, strive for excellence and serve as role models within and beyond our Hellenic community. The Awards were created to Celebrate Excellence in Greek Achievement, and will be awarded to leading Greek-Canadians or Phllhellenes on November 2, 2013.
The CEGA Awards bestow appreciation for Hellenic achievement by recognizing excellence in one of five categories: the promotion of Hellenism; Education; Philanthropy; Civic Responsibility and Family & Individual Excellence. These categories represent the five pillars of the AHEPA mission statement.

This amazing production features the work of a well known Hollywood set designer and a professional lighting designer, and well known New York choreographer. Although the text is the original classical text, the setting has been modernized. It is a modern, post-apocalyptic, rock n' roll nightmare.

Toronto Greek Film Retrospective |

The Toronto Greek Film Retrospective is a series of free screenings to celebrate Greek cinema via an electric mix of films from the past 50 years. The TGRF's aim is to showcase Greek films produced by Greek filmmakers. The foremost goal is to promote Hellenic culture, history and passion on screen. This retrospective will be open to the general public and admission is free.

CATCH OF THE DAY: Greek win Ukraine s Man of Year Award |
|

George Daskaleas, a visiting professor at Kiev University, was named Ukraine's Man of the Year for 2012 at a recent ceremony. The 17th award ceremony took place in a packed National Palace of Culture in Kiev before politicians, academics, financial and cultural leaders.
The prize was awarded by the former Minister and current Ambassador of Ukraine to Greece, Valery Tsybukh. Daskaleas was honored because "he is probably the only person that does not ask Ukraine for money but offers it!" as the organizers pointed out in an introductory video.
Daskaleas was recently named to his position at the Kiev school where he gives lectures and seminars of quantitative models and discipline investment methods. |
