CATCH OF THE DAY: MOUNT ATHOS FEATURED ON 60 MINUTES

Mount Athos was featured in a two-part segment on CBS’ 60 Minutes
that aired on Easter Sunday. Prayers have been offered there every
day, with no interruption, for more than a thousand years. It was set
aside by ancient emperors to be the spiritual capital of Orthodox
Christianity and has probably changed less over the centuries than any
other inhabited place on the planet. You can view the story in full
here:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/04/21/60minutes/main20056101.shtml?tag=contentMain;cbsCarousel[36]

Be sure to watch the behind the scenes segment with Greek-American
producer Michael Karzis. This is the second major Greek Orthodox
related story that 60 Minutes has profiled in a year and a half. In
December 2009, the acclaimed show interview Patriarch Bartholomew on
the hardships he and his followers face in Turkey.
