March in Solidarity with the People of Greece. Greek Independence Day
Parade, March 25th, 2012

Step-off 1:30pm 66th Street between 5th and Μadison Avenue (The last
group participating in the parade)

The Greek Independence Day Parade held every year in NYC is the
annual seminal event celebrating the Greek diaspora, its history and
pride in achievement. It is a public occasion to reconnect with the
homeland and this year, given the draconian austerity measures that
have been imposed on the people of Greece, it is an opportunity to
express our solidarity and support.

We invite you to march in solidarity with the people of Greece and in
protest against the anti-democratic practices of the international
financial markets and the violent imposition of policies of austerity
and social degradation on the Greek society at large. Join us in
protest against the demonization of the Greek people and in support of
the democratic rights of all people to freely determine their future.

Join us on Sunday March 25th, 2012. Fifth Avenue, NYC, Step off – 1:30
from 66th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue. (This is the
last group in the parade line).

The march is organized by OCCUPY ASTORIA LIC and the GREEK SOLIDARITY
NETWORK, a private initiative by a group of New York City based
academics and young professionals working to raise awareness and
support for the People of Greece. The first event organized by the
group had been the gathering in Zuccotti Park in February 18, 2012 in
adherence with the International Mobilization Day: WE ARE ALL GREEK.
