To All,

For many years we have been using Certificate Assistant included in macOS CoreServices to run our firm’s Public Key Infrastructure Certificate Authority (PKI CA). Over those years Certificate Assistant has been static, a bit buggy, and lacking adequate documentation. I found what appears to be a good open-source alternative:

XCA stores the PKI information in an encrypted SQL database. Three open-source SQL applications compatible with macOS are supported by XCA:

I welcome any opinions or suggestions about choosing one of these. A client of our law firm soon will need to electronically execute an agreement for sale that I drafted. I want to issue an eSignature certificate to him from our updated CA.

Regards,

Michael
