[Hx] OSX Permission Update

I have battled a problem over several machine/sys upgrades. Now on OSX11
there has been all kinds of permission issues for me.
Came across this post seeing "fetching" in the get info permissions. I
upgraded to 12 today may help, time will tell:

out of the shared folder. Really?

I was unaware to run disk utility in options rather than recovery disk?
(press and hold the power button -
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210898). Apple chat got me to a tech
told me this. I feel like I am playing a game of mother may i and orange
crush all rolled into one.
