Wade,

I understand and agree. My growing understanding of current SQL makes me expect that the full functionality of current Helix can be supported by current SQL servers, which is encouraging. If the new BGD products are able to fully exploit the capabilities of current SQL, including capabilities that Helix lacks, then the new products will be very hard to beat.

However, the functionality of the new BGD products must be a superset of the current Helix functionality for complex Collections to be supported. Some change to current methods seems expectable, yet the functionality must be there. As you know, I recently had to defend the continuing need for some critical and currently irreplaceable functionality. Hopefully, that will be the first and last time such a defense is needed. Incremental release of functionality is expectable, and is acceptable so long as light is visible at the end of the release pipeline.

Regards,

Michael

My SQL skills are extremely limited but I know enough to know that with the ability to do things like select distinct and certain joins that we simply don't have in Helix the entire relation and all those icons would not be necessary. The report could be generated directly from the source relation with fewer icons required to achieve the same result.…
