Interest in afterschool programs at HWP?

Hi everyone,

Many years back, Helen Wills Park had thriving afterschool programs
that served neighborhood families. I have been talking with RPD staff
about the possibility of bringing back afterschool programs to our
park for K-5 elementary school aged kids. In order to move forward for
this fall, we would need to know if there is enough interest to offer
this type of programming.

Please read the details below and REPLY ALL to this email if might be
interested by this Monday, June 20.

The details:

• Park staff would pick up kids everyday afterschool from Jean Parker,
or Spring Valley to walk them to Helen Wills Playground

• Students would participate in afterschool activities provided by RPD
staff trained in leading afterschool programming

• Families pay a fee if $650 per year for 10 months of programming
(with 50-100% off if they qualify for scholarships.)

• We would need a minimum of 20 children to participate.

Please REPLY ALL right away if you might be interested in signing up
your child for an afterschool program at Helen Wills Park. Pass this
email along to other Jean Parker or Spring Valley ES parents you know
who might be interested.

P.S. I really hope we have enough interest to get this going, as I
would love to sign up my two girls, who will be in the first grade
next fall.

Hi Alison

Wow. You are amazing! This sounds great, except my daughter in going to Yick Wo (kindergarten). So, I'm not sure how I would get her to the park. I'm actually still trying to figure out after school care.

I do think this is amazing for the neighborhood families.
