I'm trying to access website located on XAMPP server on my other computer located on the same LAN network. I am able to see welcome screen of XAMPP server, i.e., 192.168.0.22/xampp/ but when I am pointing to my website, i.e., 192.168.0.22/xampp/website/ it says:
Apart from the core components mentioned above, XAMPP usually comes with other useful tools such as Mercury mail server, phpMyAdmin for database administration, Webalizer for web server log analysis, OpenSSL, Apache Tomcat for running Java code, and FileZilla FTP server.
The XAMPP Control Panel sports a simple user interface that lists all the modules of your local server. It allows you to Start/Stop individual modules, access their Admin area, Config files, and Logs with just a single click. Its bottom section also displays all your actions and errors (if any).
XAMPP is the title used for a compilation of free software. The name is an acronym, with each letter representing one of the five key components. The software packet contains the web server Apache, the relational database management system MySQL (or MariaDB), and the scripting languages Perl and PHP. The initial X stands for the operating systems that it works with: Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X.
Alongside these core components, this free-to-use Apache distribution contains some other useful tools, which vary depending on your operating system. These tools include the mail server Mercury, the database administration tool phpMyAdmin, the web analytics software solutions Webalizer, OpenSSL, and Apache Tomcat, and the FTP servers FileZilla or ProFTPd.

Controls for the individual components of your test server can be reached through the XAMPP Control Panel. The clear user interface logs all actions and allows you to start or stop individual modules with a single. The XAMPP Control Panel also offers you various other buttons, including:
Server backups are the best way to save vital data from your online projects and avoid losing data. A sophisticated backup strategy including all terminal devices is essential, especially in server environments. To do so, you need reliable backup programs. In addition to software solutions and online services, which are often very expensive, free applications like rsync offer an alternative.
Network administrators are often faced with the challenge of coordinating different operating systems such as Windows or Linux. But with the use of a Samba server, sharing services in a network environment is a piece of cake.
If you have ever tried to mount an Apache web server, you will have realised it's not easy. In case you also need to instal a database manger like MySQL or a language fr the server like PHP, that task gets even harder.
Although those three parts are the most known, XAMPP can install other utilities such as PHPmyAdmin, OpenSSL, PERL or Webalizer, so you'll be able to have a full-featured server without having to work a lot.
Specifications? nOperating system ?, bus? nApache has been giving me a problem on windows10 this is the third time I reinstall. But at least it works, wamp not even that hahaha n nIf anyone has any id...
I have XAMPP stack running on this computer 192.168.1.22 (Windows 10) on my LAN. I want to be able to access this web server from any host on my LAN. As an example I am trying to access it from 192.168.1.39 and I cant access it but when I drop the firewall on .22 machine i am able to access it with no issues which leads me to believe that one of the firewall rule is blocking the incoming traffic. I confirmed this by enabling logging on .22 firewall but unfortunately I cant determine from the log which rule is affecting this. there are 4 rules that are related to Apache web server but when i disabled them I was still not able to see the web page from .22. Anything else I could try short of disabling rules one by one?
XAMPP stack provides you a local platform where you can install and run your WordPress sites right from your Desktop/Mac. The stack supports the same components as the actual web server and it ensures that when the time comes to take the project live, the database(s) and whole website (s) could be moved easily without any hassle.
A virtual host is used for hosting multiple domain names on a single server. This means different websites share the same server and utilities for their desired project. There are many advantages when you use the virtual host concepts in a live environment and various large-scale companies follow the same principle to provide low-cost web hosting server for their customers. The best example would be shared hosting.
1. Create individual folders for the virtual php hosts in the htdocs folder.
2. Edit httpd-vhosts.conf to include information (including hostname, document root, and server name) about each virtual host.
3. Edit hosts file to include the IP address (usually 127.0.0.1) and the name of the virtual hosts.
4. Restart XAMPP and access each virtual host to test the success of the process.
A. Changing the domain name from localhost requires first editing the local hosts file to include the new domain name and the IP address of localhost (127.0.0.1). Next, edit httpd-vhosts.conf file to include the new domain information (hostname, document root, and server name). Finally, restart XAMPP and then access the new domain in the browser.
A. A virtual host emulates the functionality of a live server and provides a similar directory structure and database connectivity. You can have multiple virtual hosts at your local development machine, each hosting different websites (or versions of a website). If you wish, you can also connect the virtual host to a live domain to further test the functionality of the project.
This error means that something went wrong with Apache that caused it to crash. Apache is the webserver that XAMPP relies on, so a crash in Apache means your local development sites will stop working.
PHP is the most popular and widely-used server-side scripting language for web development. However, it requires a webserver to run even a locally developed webpage. There are various web server software for setting up our local webserver. Amongst them, PHP XAMPP and WampServer are the most popular. While WampServer is only available for the Windows platform, XAMPP is a cross-platform application that can run on Windows, Linux, and macOS. Hence, in this tutorial, you will learn PHP using XAMPP.
PHP (Hypertext Protocol) is Open Source Programming Language used to make web pages. PHP language can run on various platforms and is compatible with almost all servers. PHP files use .php as their extension. PHP can perform functions, like from files on a system it can create, open, read, write, and close them. You can add, delete, and modify elements within your database with the help of PHP. You can restrict users from accessing some pages of your website using PHP. PHP can encrypt data too.
XAMPP is the most popular software package which is used to set up a PHP development environment for web services by providing all the required software components. During the process of software deployment, most of the web servers use almost similar components, so use of XAMPP provides easy transition from local server to live server. XAMPP is a AMP stack which stands for Cross platform, Apache, MySQL, PHP, perl with some additional administrative software tools such as PHPMyAdmin (for database access), FileZilla FTP server, Mercury mail server and JSP Tomcat server.
Other commonly known software packages like XAMPP are WAMP, LAMP, and others.
The XAMPP server is used to test PHP pages. It works as local server. It contains a MySQL database to manage or save data on a local server.
Advantages of XAMPP:
Note: In XAMPP, the configuration files of Apache, MySQL, PHP are located in C:\Program Files\xampp. For any configuration file changes, you need to restart Apache and MySQL.
XAMPP takes away the hassle of setting up Apache, MariaDB, PHP, Perl, PhpMyadmin, FTP and Tomcat. XAMPP is configured with all the features turned on and optimised for speed and performance. Perfect solution for setting up a web server.
For accessing the server on the internet, you need to have the Public IP open to internet on the NSG for the port number on which the service is running. Ensure there are no NSG rules blocking on the Subnet level for required ports.
