Hi Dick,
Our fabulous intern last summer and this summer is Daisy Hernandez, a student at Marquette University who is active in the MU Center for Peacemaking. You may remember that we granted her a Heidkamp scholarship last December to go to Cuba. She is fulfilling our wildest dreams by preparing with Marilyn McKenna a webinar on Cuba, based on her experiences there. The first one was last night—it was good, but didn’t have many listeners.
Would you be willing to call or email some of your friends and send them this link https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Y5NIR1IMR7OFdOKNhEj61w and ask them to register for the second webinar, “U.S. – Cuba Relations, Cooperatives, and Community”? Also this link https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_HWnTjzS4S0uHlwo_oJxKtQ for the third webinar, “Health Care Systems: Clients or Patients?” The second webinar is coming up next week on Thursday, July 30. The third webinar is coming up the following Thursday, August 6.
I hope you can watch, too—Daisy is terrific! I’ve put descriptions of both sessions below.
Thanks!

US-Cuba Relations, Cooperatives, and Community
THURSDAY JULY 30, 2020 7:00PM-8:00PM
We'll dive into the long and difficult trajectory of US-Cuba relations through a series of U.S. laws, regulations, and proclamations relating to Cuba. We'll have a discussion on understanding our privilege as people from the
U.S. and learn to lessen our dependency on it. We deconstruct our privilege to make the opportunities to build our communities. We'll discuss the popular education style to learn what we share by naming the individuals we learn from, and how to work to better
learn from oppressed voices and continue to transform people to transform policy.
Healthcare System: Clients or Patients?
THURSDAY AUGUST 6, 2020 7:00PM-8:00PM
For the final session in our series we will take a look at an alternative for healing in a system that centers prevention and inclusivity. Cuba's medical brigades have come to the aid of more than 26 countries during the COVID-19
Pandemic. We will learn about the science behind holistic healing with notes from a holistic dentist, and we'll discuss the distinct qualities of our two healthcare systems and the conditions for how our health is defined.
