The photo was taken on 13 June 1986 - Leno's 11th birthday - at a garden party honouring the Fulbright Scholar teachers before they headed back to their home countries. Mom was the one selected by the other teachers to be the one to represent them when being introduced to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother (the Mother of HM Queen Elizabeth II who just passed today).

I will actually be flying from Norway into Heathrow on Saturday 17 June, later in the afternoon - the day the funeral procession will take place. Not sure if I will be able to catch any of it, because I had planned to travel north to Oxfordshire to visit our cousin Thomas Heidkamp and his family. Will see how things shake out.

Off to the Swedish seaside tomorrow for the weekend. Fortunately, no television there - just hiking, kayaking and boating - so won't be inundated with the coverage.
