To start off with the error that pops up is...
"Windows cannot find 'C:\AMD\AMD_Software_Installer_22.10.3\Setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
OMEN by HP Obelisk Desktop
Windows 10 Pro
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 3.59 GHz
AMD Radeon RX 5700XT
RAM 16 GB
So the other day I went to use AMD software: Adrenaline Edition to install the new graphics drivers for the RX 5700XT. I downloaded them and I went to INSTALL the drivers. However, after clicking on the install button the error message listed above popped up. I tried looking for this issue on the forums or elsewhere but was only able to find issues that were SIMILAR. For example Windows not being able to find radeonsettings or was concerning a Ryzen CPU or something. Most of the posts I saw had solutions like going into the registry ("Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options" ) and deleting radeonsettings, but I honestly don't see anything listed in the "Image File Execution Options" folder that has anything to do with AMD. So there is honestly nothing TO delete there. Also, I know messing with the registry isn't exactly advised all that much.
I tried reinstalling the AMD software: Adrenaline Edition update tool, but it didn't work. The same error popped up again. Here is the error that pops up.
Also on a bit of a side note...
I have NEVER played Alien Isolation before in my life. It's is not even installed on this PC, nor has it EVER been installed. I've played AC Valhalla, AOE, CP2077, and C&C recently so that's normal, but I'm also freaked out why some 800 hours of Alien Isolation would be in the history.
Hey man, i unistalled my drivers completely incuding the adrenaline edition and reinstalled from there website and it worked for me. You might have to restart a bit or try a few times but i dont think this is on us.
It looks like it is receiving data from a previous driver installation, but from where is the question. I've read a bit about the AMD DDU uninstall app, but I've been using BC Uninstaller for several years now and I feel that it does a much better job. I'm not knocking DDU but I dislike having to go into "safe mode" to uninstall drivers. I would recommend you try BCU (use it in default mode) and uninstall your drivers then delete any directory where they were installed prior to reinstalling them. Make sure you shut down then restart prior to reinstalling, that's just an old time process that I have used for many years. I also prefer a cold system restart as opposed to a warm system restart when cleaning up old drivers etc.
I attempted to install windows 11 on my pc via the desktop it has the processor stated above and it said it was not compatible and would not let me install it. and made me exit update utility for windows 11.
-windows should then install without issue after the final restart if the usb is still plugged in it will take you back to the start of the re install menu if it does unplug the usb and restart your pc
See my post here should help get you going
Below are screenshots of my Tesla P40 set up the same way same driver.
Edit: See this post for different ways to set up with different type display out cards.

I have read whole suggested mega thread and all I did was to switch EnableMsHybrid=2 to make it appear as low power card. Than I was able to assign this card to specific tasks in windows and it works perfectly fine.
I know, it's well known problem but I'm trying to solve from couple weeks unsuccesfully.. All discussions i found in many forums are really old and actually does not work.. Most probably there is only one working set of drivers (maybe sequence), but which one?!?!?!
curious, I remember that the drivers leshcatlabs, troubleshoot for a lot of problems!
but given you have the drivers available for your model, this should work
If you have the same version of original windows, it shouldn't be a problem, maybe it's just missing something more...
You have tried both drivers, Intel then AMD:
I doubt it will work on windows 10
But in the past I have often seen problems with this type of configuration, only when changing systems..
And we managed to settle it, only we lost everything when the French forum closed!
it should work with the drivers, since indicated compatible, something must be missing..
There is nothing more as information of the error message?
I doubt it will pass, but try those for windows 8
This is the type of document I was looking for.
I knew there were two options, one as you seem to have, editable from the bios, the best from memory
the other, configurable only under windows
I'm not sure if this necessarily indicates a problem with the graphics chip.
it could be related to several things, the game, RAM, graphics...
you should try several games!
note, I didn't follow it well, it seems to me, it's only the intel that won't want to install, the amd driver no problem, is that it?
the best solution would have been a factory recovery, which you can't do, if you hadn't created the hp recovery kit
there is a test user, but even with the usb key system, I don't know if it will work, and if it will give a result:
HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures HP Customer Support In all this, I no longer have the thread..
which driver gives an error, intel, amd, both?
what do you have in the device manager, error, version of the drivers installed?
Tests done in Win7 were positive, no issues but it doesn't inicate which graphic card is tested. In Win10 testing program is shutted down right after any video card test started (but here is showing which card will test). All other tests like CPU were OK on both systems.
Ok but which versions are installed
currently I'm only talking about windows 7!
I know that there were already difficulties with windows 8, so I don't know at all if it could work with windows 10
I don't understand your last question
Since the release of 1.9.0, we have become aware of performance problems for owners of AMD Radeon RX graphics cards. This is due to the new hardware acceleration feature which is enabled by default in 1.9.0. We are actively investigating this problem, but while we do this, we recommend trying Photo with Hardware Acceleration disabled (in Preferences Performance). We apologise for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience while we investigate.
If you are experiencing these performance problems, and you do have an AMD Radeon RX graphics card, please could you go to Help Benchmark, then press Run Benchmark, and take a screenshot of the results, and post them to this thread (there is no need to record a benchmark with OpenCL disabled). Alternatively just reply with the exact model of graphics card that you're using. There is no need to make additional threads in the forum describing performance problems if you have an AMD Radeon RX, and you still have Hardware Acceleration enabled. Any descriptions of the performance problems that you are seeing would also be useful. Thanks again.
Thanks @boulton lee, just for reference, there's no need to provide the "off" version, as that is what the "Multi CPU" option is already (you'll notice only minor variance between your two screenshots).
Our main problem is that we can't buy any Radeon RX cards, from anywhere! They're completely sold out from what we can see. Which makes it difficult to debug problems without physical access to the hardware. But that aside, thanks ?
i believe vega underperforms significantly, too, at least when comparing the photo benchmark scores and i have had some serious hangs while retouching with my vega aswell. i never saw any dedicated vega card exceed the scores of a R9 290X or a RX 580 or RX 5500XT and vega is significantly more powerful than those three cards - vega scores should be at least 50% higher than what they are at the moment, at least for mine and yours.
that said, i dont know what kind the load of the openCL acceleration is and how well it can be spread over the CUs of the gpu and im no programmer, just my impression as a power user and hardware nut.
I have not noticed any performance problems with the released version 1.9.0 and my Ryzen 3700X CPU and AMD 5500XT GPU. It might be worth trying to assess if the AMD CPUs and GPUs issues could be caused by third party hardware or software, for example tablets, dual graphics, older drivers still remaining on the system, etc. that is interfering with affinity and its use of opencl.
You mentioned you can't test amd radeon video hardware. If you have specific test scripts and test data, I would volunteer to test a few hours. I'm retired IT systems analyst, done a lot of testing in my day.
In the German Facebook group Affinity Photo Germany, the error also occurs with many people with a Geforce GTX/RTX. The only thing that helps is to remove the hook. So please take a look at this too. I will then pass it on in the community of the group.
