Sorry but I rejoiced too quickly yesterday. The Peter 's procedure allows indeed to no longer have an error message during the execution of the command. However, the plugin does not seem to work. No task is done. I let the process run all the night. And the status stays always on "Opening Mapinfo ... Exporting style table" ...But nothing else. No qml file has been generated. It's strange because i managed to use this plugin in march 2015 last year (with a previous mapinfo version) ... According to you, the reason of the problems could be from updates realised beteween previous version and last new mapinfo v.16?
For several days, I gave up mainfo for qgis. Is there a way to converting my mapinfo files (.tab) toward a file format supported by qgis. of course, i would like saving the symbology (styling) during the file conversion.
If you are using MapInfo Font symbols or normal MapInfo 3.0 everything should come across almost exactly. mapinfoToQgis.py will use the same fonts in QGIS as you did in MapInfo and select to the correct symbol size. Although if you are using custom MapInfo 3.0 symbols you will get the default QGIS black square symbol, you can just change it to something better after loading the QML.
Like I said at the start, hopefully other people will find this tool handy as I know I have. If you do find it handy let me know, I would love to hear peoples feedback. Also if you find any bugs let me know in the comments or log a issue on -to-QGIS-style-generator/issues
Stuff like this is tedious work since it's not trivial to do it automatically, so unfortunately will probably not make it in. Maybe in the future but no promises.
Glad people are enjoying the map theme generator.
Could you use the MapInto 2 QGIS style generator to get the styles into QGIS? -to-QGIS-style-generator/wiki/Using-MapInfo-to-QGIS-style-generatorI've no experience of using it, so can't say how well it works but it might save you some time.HTHGreg
Version 10 was released in June 2009. The primary enhancements included a more intuitive user interface, including a rewritten Layer Control dialog box, compatibility with PostGIS and a PDF generator that supports both Layered and georeference PDF files.
Anyway, with the rise of Brutal Doom many new people were flooded into the Doom modding community which is cool. Unfortunately, many people (well most in fact) don't know how to code which means that so far most of the new modders (and a large chunk of experienced ones) are currently limited to only making simple levels and don't want to touch the more exotic stuff such as making their own actors (custom enemies, weapons etc) or the powerful level scripting known an ACS. Many also find it confusing how to create mapinfo/gameinfo code to determine level progression, or how to add new custom graphics such as textures and materials.
The idea behind Doom maker is basically that you can use a simple gui interface to create code (decorate, texture and material definitions, mapinfo etc, and later, possibly zscript) without having to actually know any coding. You will still need to understand certain doom editing concepts however, but nothing insanely difficult or complicated. The idea basically is that you take the printed code and copy/paste it into the wad editing program you are using such as Slade. I am still in the early stages of making the program but I already have a simple mapinfo creator working and am currently working on the early stages of a monster creator.
