I have been working on some heavy shape files which includes Alberta's road, river, power gas,substations, land cover, slope, urban areas etc data where I am trying to perform the weighted overlay analysis in model builder using total of 7 files mentioned here, ArcGIS is getting crashed within seconds. I have check all the input files everything seems OK to me. Since yesterday, ArcGIS has crashed almost 25 times. When I use less number of files, say 5 instead of 7, weighted overlay is working fine.
As I mentioned earlier I performed number of operations before I finally got the inputs for weighted overlay analysis. All in all, the total file size of all the data comes out to be close to 31GB. However, raster inputs files for Weighted overlay analysis is around 5.87 GB.
there are still spaces in your paths... look at the dialog. Now, go to the Results menu (geoprocessing menu section) and copy the results of a failed attempt. It usually gives you more information that is reported by the dialog. And you could simplify stuff by doing an incremental weighted overlay starting with just 2 inputs, then 3 once the paths are fixed. You may be having memory issues or file issues until the base issues are addressed
I fixed the space problem in the path. Basically, I was running Weighted overlay analysis in Model Builder and this was not showing any entries in Result window. As soon the model is run, system got crashed withing 2-3 seconds.
However, when I opened the weighted overlay tool directly form the tool box (ToolBox/Spatial Analyst Tool/Overlay/Weighted Overlay) and run the tool after putting all 7 input files, fortunately system worked, so is the result window. I have got some output results although not what I desired but yeah, at least ArcMap didn't crash.
I am having the same issue with the stand alone tool as well as model builder. I want to combine 13 eight bit integer rasters into a weighted overlay. The tool seems to crash at 5 input layers now. I say now because a couple months ago I was able to run the tool with these layers in model builder. The tool also crashed ArcGIS when trying to process 6 input rasters in the stand alone tool. My machine has 16GB of memory and a 64bit processor. I have no spaces in my file names and have even reduced the length of file pathways substantially.
Second, try to run the Weighted overlay analysis directly from the toolbox i.e. open 'Weighted Overlay' tool from (ToolBox/Spatial Analyst Tool/Overlay/Weighted Overlay), not in the Model builder interface.
I have a large feature layer from the local planning agency with land use data for the region. I'm trying to extract just the data and create a map for one municipality by overlaying the two layers (land use and municipal boundary). I'm getting this error message:
ArcGIS Server Feature Services have a hard limit of 100,000 features for analysis. For Hosted Feature services, there isn't a hard limit, but "as the complexity of the features in the service increases, the number of features you can analyze decreases. For example, if the service contains polygon features that have thousands of vertices each, you might only be able to analyze a few hundred features. If the number or complexity of features exceeds what the tool can support, you will receive an error message"
Feture layers with less than 100,000 records can be downloaded in .shp, .csv, .geojson and .kml. When trying to download feature layers with more than 100,000 records the error log says the following:
We find this documentation -> Setting map service Properties ( -services/linux/setting-map-service-properties.h...) and edit the featute layer settings, in the field maxSampleSize (An integer representing the maximum number of records that will be sampled when computing a class breaks renderer. The default is 100,000.) increasing to over 100,000 records.
I am using the freehand tool to select 4 objects in my image and using MEASURE to analyse their circularity. Each selection was in ROI manager and I used FROM ROI MANAGER to create an overlay. When I saved, closed and re-opened the image again, TO ROI MANAGER would not bring up my overlays.
Which format did you save the images in? Formats like JPEG or PNG will not include overlays, try saving as Tiff. (You can also save the ROIs from the ROI manager and reinitialize them at a later time (just drag-drop the .roi file to Fiji))
I have found a partial solution immediately after posting the question. I had to convert overlays under Image - Overlay - To ROI Manager. I could see all the Overlays as ROI and edit them. After editing, I could close the ROI manager which automatically asked for saving these as overlays. The only problem is that the scale bar gets a border with several points around it after the conversion, which never disappears. I could not find a way to remove the borders.
If you need to remove many ROIs from an overlay, according to specific criteria, then it might be helpful to explore using the Overlay macro functions as well to select each ROI in turn, and then remove it if it required. But that would be a bigger task.
I would recommend dropping SAL on Color instead of Overlay since SAL is a continuous variable. That way you can assign a meaningful continuous gradient color theme like cool to warm (blue to red). See example of 6 bara water density vs entropy colored by temperature.
Another tip for when you have many categories to overlay: use the color theme Spectral. Why? Lots of colors (so you don't have discern between 5 shades of light green...) and it follows the rainbow. In primary school we all (English speakers) learned ROYGBIV. This is great for timestamps as overlay: purples are in the past and reds are now.
This was good, but it inspired me to do something I liked even more. I right clicked on Sal variable on the left hand side of the Graph builder window, then I chose Transform - Round and then it created a new temporary variable that had any bins I wanted (same range for all bins, though).

I may get skewered for this but I would avoid using "Attach". I have found many many drawings all gummed up due to nested xrefs. It may be conjecture on my part, but the correlation cannot be ignored. It may work well for architects backgrounds, but I have yet to see a civil project work without errors.
In our office we use xrefs for alignment(all the flatwork), Grad&drainage(contours&structures), utilities(sewer,gas, elec,...), and landscaping... x-align, x-grade, x-util, x-lscape. For working purposes each of those xref need to see the other for reference. If x-align has-grade,x-util.... "ATTACH" then in x-grade needs x-align and it ends up trying to xref in itself because of "ATTACH", and this can spiral out of control because each xref keeps building these nested occurrences. By the time you get to a sheet file it becomes a complete mess.
I create a template with relative path, overlay (empty)xrefs. copy into a project folder and everyone is ready to go. No one really needs to concern themselves with attaching xrefs, the project template has it done for them - all I need is a better layer standard and states and I would be golden> IMHO it keeps this clean.

If you look at an example you'll get the idea pretty quick. Essentially, I create a prototype project folder with all the subfolders I want. The I made file new with my c3d.dwt, saved as xref\x-name. Then did all my relative attaching for working drawings, next made a starter sheet file, and again loaded all the xref relative. Even setup a starter SSM.dst file. So now when a job open all the user needs to do is copy the prototype folder to the projects drive on the server, rename the folder to the job number, insert the survey into X-topo, load any aerials to X-aerial, and start working. The relative path for xrefs does not care where the root folder is - try it. Add some crap and copy the root folder around the xref path goes with it - this is great for archiving.
With C3D it's not as simple. Generally, as was mentioned before, you almost always want to use Overlay for C3D. The exeption is for cross sections and corridor drawings. Those you want to use as Attach because of the bugs with how C3D handles XREF'd corridors.

In particular, when the camera is looking at some circular object, I want to permanently overlay a pattern of concentric circles with cross hairs on the live video capture , with the center of cross hair matching to the center of the circular object in the video.
