The Djed Pillar is meant to be the 'spine' or 'backbone' of Osiris - I consider this to be a classic translation error - the Djed Pillar is said to have brought stability to the Pharaohnic nation of Egypt - but what has that got to do with a spine?

Clearly the Djed Pillar is NOT a spine or backbone - it is often amalgamated into contraptions which include a Sistrum - which in itself is similar to a voltaic battery [metal discs are on metal spindles] - and the Djed is often seen in combination with the WAS Sceptre - and the sceptre itself has some features of a LIGHTNING ROD which is used in scientific laboratories for discharging sparks from batteries and Leyden Jars… 

The Djed is a Voltaic Cell - and that is why it is featured as part of other larger complex aparatus at the temple of Dendera.
