Hey community, we have a lot of stuff that got thrown out during the move. What seems to have been overlooked is that this stuff is tied to the hopes dreams and efforts of our other members.

In the haste and confusion during the move to the new location decisions were made by those trying to get the job done. We should remember that their intentions were good. They were putting a priority on clearing the lab of things with less value without realizing the value that others put on things.

I'm not talking about trash or things that belonged to members that didn't have a proper or expired parking ticket. I'm talking about tools, supplies, and miscellaneous stuff that really belongs to the lab and the stations in the lab.

To those doing the cleaning please stop throwing out lab belongings that have a purpose to someone else.

To those who notice things they cared about missing. Please forgive those who acted without recognizing the efforts you had put into those things and the value they were to the community.

We have a process and that process is to tag things and follow up with those involved with the items in question.

I love all of you and the bizarre things you horde. Let's work together so it is a better place to make things than it is to store things.

Eric,
I appreciate your post.

We definitely had some problems with people stuff being delt with overtly swiftly.

We do have the red tag process.  We need to follow it to the t.  Clear expectations need to be maintained.  I would like to see the red tag process enfoced more strictly in this space to keep important projects and parts in thier proper place in the lab.

I am sorry that mistakes were made during the move.  I feel like most of the things made it here with some exceptions.

Thank you for everything every one is doing and thanks for understanding.
Milton

I personally threw away at least a dumpster full of stuff over the last two weeks. Much of it was actual garbage and was stuff with expired red tags.  Some of it wasn't and might have been things I assumed were abandoned. I shouldn't have made any assumptions as we have a process.  Going forward I'll be sure to red tag stuff well in advance.

Well there was definitely plenty of actual trash.

The part I'm still struggling with is that we have to actually allow ourselves to disagree with each other on what has value (or at least how much value) and do so respectfully. It's easy to see how making a proposal and discussing something with the community can look like an attack on an individual who has something being proposed for removal.
