Thank you, for this post, Landon.I don’t speak up here often, and am not sure that my reply here will even send, but I feel the need to speak up here. (If someone would confirm this got posted, I’d appreciate it. :) )I do not see this original post as a formal proposal. It does not say, ‘proposal,’ so let’s calm down.I love the idea of this post as a call-to-action.I would like to see a list like this as a regular posting. It would definitely help us grow -and in the healthy way that I believe most of us want.It tells us, who is eligible in a neutral way. It also prompts key holders to think about their responsibility to help the lab grow, not just hold a key.I immediately read through the list and started thinking about who I knew and who I might want to nominate and mentor. I don’t know who is a member and is eligible and I see several people on this list that I do think would benefit the lab if given access. Some on this list may be wanting a key, but just don’t know how to reach that final step to pass through the key nomination process. As key holders, if we spot someone on this list, we can check in on them to help them through if we know they are eligible and see potential. The original post, in this spirit, is excellent for our awareness, for when we meet people. It helps us to observe with key access in mind.I, personally, will keep this list in mind when I meet people and re-introduce myself (because I need name reminders frequently).Thank you, again,Cynthia Huettner

In a hackerspace hacking is: creative problem-solving, smart tinkering, and building or modifying technology in a clever way rather than breaking into computer system.I believe that this proposal is hacking the hackerspace. Hear me out.I don't believe we should take this to a vote. But members of a hackerspace should hack on the hackerspace itself too. This is a discussion that needs to be had. A lot of the energy that goes into making the Lab go is quiet and not splashy. A lot of our membership is quiet and not making a ton of noise, yet quietly funding the mission. Cardholders should have a way to find out if a person is eligible. This is really eye opening to me. 30+ people supporting the Labs mission quietly in the background! THANK YOU!Now let's get to know them and nominate them the normal way, but let's also talk about how to improve the nomination process. We don't want waiting for card access to become a purgatory you just get stuck in. As much as HeatSync needs people teaching metal shop and laser classes, we also need people who donate because they believe in the mission. When appropriate let's nominate them for card access and fine other ways to thank them for their contributions.
