Hi everyone

Past couple weeks I have been working on putting together a dark room in the HSL kitchen.

We were able to successfully make a print earlier in the week after performing some removable light sealing of the windows and door.

The enlarger and associated equipment could take up a bit more than 2 sqft of space, but is intended to be temporary and require assembly for use.

Workshops would be held on darkroom printing initially, then eventually doing full development.

I've attached some photos to give everyone an idea of what this looks like deployed.

The investment required by the lab is $0 because all equipment was donated by members of the film group Analog Alliance, which I am a part of.

Proposal:
Allocate space in the HSL kitchen for the Darkroom equipment and accessories.

I had a sudden work trip come up for this Thursday, so I won't be able to be there to rep it.

At its current pace, we should be holding workshops in August for anyone who wants to learn how to use the Darkroom.

Some questions that have come up while in the lab:
Will the space still be usable for phone calls and screenprinting?
Yes! The station is currently configured to be in a small footprint when put away. While being used it does require the use of the entire room, with window covers on and 2 curtains to the entrance of the kitchen.  Part of the training will include the deployment and stashing of all items.  Screenprinting areas won't be touched.

What supplies will be required for users?
Photo paper, chemicals, and of course, negatives.  There may be a donation of paper and developing chems down the line, but to start, members will be required to bring those items.

Who will be the station head?
I'd be happy to serve as station head and anyone interested in being my backup would be welcomed.

Please vote YES on this proposal!
