Around July 2023 I built a new computer for the Vinyl Cutter and CAD work and forgot to document it here when I put it into operation:

It is an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and it was built with 8GB of ram and a dedicated graphics card using a Gigbyte motherboard.

I upgraded it to 16GB of DDR4 last night.

Thanks Cpro! That's awesome. 16GB seems like the minimum for Windows these days so that's great to see. And a Ryzen 5 3600 doesn't even seem that old. Does that kind of info live somewhere outside the mailing list? Does it already have an NVME or SSD?

Every computer I have updated has NVMe drives. I will not put a computer into operation that does not have one.

I do require more M.2 drives, and if you wish to donate I need about 4, My restriction is they are Samsung branded (OEM or enthusiast levels are fine) and 500+GB. I have experienced a LOT of WD, Sandisk, and off-brand m.2 ssd brand failures and not too many Samsung drives, so I decided on Samsung drives for the lab only if I am putting the effort in to loading them up.

The Laser computer is a 9th gen core i59400 with a M.2 SSD /16GB DDR4
The media computer is a Ryzen 7 2600 (Motherboard Can take 5000 series) with a M.2 SSD/16GB DDR4(I think)
The vinyl computer is a Ryzen 5 3600  (Motherboard Can take 5000 series)  with a M.2 SSD/16GB DDR4
The 3D printing computer is a Ryzen 7 2700 (Motherboard is maxed out on CPU due to BIOS limitations (HP GRRR!)) with a M.2 SSD/16GB DDR4

Most of these were made of donated parts we got over the years plus what I donated to complete them. I have been dragging us into the next century one tooth at a time! My next target is replacing the SFF on the control cart of the small laser replaced with a newer generation computer, but I need a SSD for it first. All new HSL PC's shall be at least DDR4 and have a M.2 based SSD is what I decided.
