I will not be able to attend the HYH Meeting this Saturday.  However, I did want to give some updates, some of which are dated.

Machine Shop
  • One Lathe Certification class completed.  There is still plenty of demand.  I'll work on schedule more on Sunday afternoons.
  • Waiting to schedule Mill Certification classes until I can get an in-person pass down from Darrell.
  • Lathe and mills are seeing use. Some of the lathe tools have either gone missing or have disappeared somewhere in the shop.  Nothing that can't be worked around at the moment.
  • Upgrades I want to make near term: A decent tap wrench, DRO for lathe tail stock, powered drive for a mini-mill.
 Lock Picking
  • There is only one set of lock picks at the station. It would be great if we could get some more.  If anyone has used hacksaw blades, they can make good DIY picks.
  • My goal is to host a monthly lock picking clinic. The one hosted in early February was very well attended.
Concerning the Bike Station, I am not a champion of this area, but I like bikes. Landon asked me to go through the tools at the bike station and make suggestions for what is missing.  It is decently equipped, but here are my recommendations. I can loan the lab my wheel truing stand.

Basic:
  • Spoke wrenches
  • Bike grease
  • Three way hex and Torx tools
  • Loose Allen keys (metric)
    • Multitools don't count.
Nice to have
  • Brake spreader
  • Quick link pliers
  • Stan's plunger
  • Brake rotor alignment
  • Derailleur alignment tool

Other
  • Brake bleed kit (Mineral oil, I wouldn't recommend a dot3 version)
  • Bike specific torque wrench
  • Shock pump
  • Hacksaw guide
