Restrictions on google groups?

Been noticing some weird behaviors on the groups I didn't experience before. Tried to make a relatively short post and it keeps saying message too long (there are plenty of posts longer that are on here) and someone else told me they had to wait for approval to post. 

This post is mainly a test but if anyone is aware of any changes that would be good to know.

First time posters have always needed approval. You don't need approval to reply though!
