We had a FLSUN QQ delta style 3D printer donated to the lab. It came in with a jammed axis and unknown condition. Thanks to whoever that was, this thing doesn't use much footprint at all and should be able to fit into our setup and be able to print some of the more goofy parts that give cartesian printers a hard time, plus visually they are awesome to watch!

With the help of Antonio, we took a look at it last night and found out the issue with the axis that got jammed was actually due to the design using hex head screws instead of grub screws to attach the pulley to the stepper motor, and was a product of the rubber vibration dampener units deforming due to the high belt tension of the printer contacting the dampener's metal plate thus locking up one of the stepper motors itself!

The menus and such are confusing as hell on this printer and I have no idea how to level the thing. Later revisions of this printer had some sort of auto bed level which this thing does not appear to have.

It's got some interesting specs, a touchscreen, and a 32 bit microcontroller on it's stock driver board.

We verified both heaters work and were able to get the stuck filament melted out of the unit and rebuilt the extruder. I was able to start a test print, was able to get the Z height about right, but not level the bed. That's the final step to having it functional!

If anyone gets bored, research how the bed leveling is supposed to work on this thing, what bed leveling upgrade it might need to be workable, and maybe see what kind of grub screws we need for the motor pulleys so we can nip that problem before the other two axis do the same thing. I don't think removal of the vibration dampeners is possible without making new brackets and some sort of rubber/felt/neoprene shim to replace the current isolation dampener design.

I'm sure you already saw this but my 5 minutes of research lead me to the Teaching Tech video where he explains that it's using a microswitch for bed leveling. Since you only add it when you are doing the leveling itself it's possible it's just missing from the donation?

Looks like it also has a community firmware out there:

There might be others but that was the first to pop up.

Will you be at the next 3D Printer day working on it?

That sure explains a lot actually. So many posts said 'ditch the microswitch, do this mod instead',
and it explains why when we attempted to level the quadrants that the printer didn't know what to do and just got stuck at the same coordinate.

Our printer just calls itself a "FLSUN QQ"  and is not a "super racer", and at least from the outside does not identify as a QQ-s or a QQ-s pro, and the other printers appear to have screens and buttons configured differently compared to what we have, so I was not sure if any of the information for the different variants of the printer applied to ours.

I do not know if I'll be there for 3D print day or not, but I am sure it's pretty close to 'working' properly.
