It's good that we're discussing using this newly found space!
A few things should be brought up though that are important
1) The room is absolutely disgusting, not just sanitary wise but also aesthetics wise. I don't believe sanitizing and whitewashing will make it into a 'nice space'.
2) There are plenty of copper pipes (some with pressurized water), which limit the headroom and usable space inside this room and would be an absolute hassle should the wrong ones get damaged.
3) Despite it having ductwork inside of it, it is not well ventilated and is not air conditioned with the rest of the lab. Adding a vent would screw with the building's air balance (which to be fair is probably screwed up anyway)
4) The A/C is right above it, so noise/vibration could be an issue, and I think the condensate from the A/C drains down there too
5) The doors in their current state leave a bit to be desired if the room is to be occupied while the doors are closed. We don't want the possibility of anyone getting locked inside for an instance.
Which leads to
6) It will not be a pleasant/nice place to stay for any significant length of time (I mean unless you are weird).
I think we should use the space, but maybe for a process or things that are stored in other parts of the lab.
This room will not have UV light for an instance, so perhaps it could be suited to the screen printing station, it could be a good place out of the way to put the resin based 3D printers, we could store our chemicals/janitorial things there, or perhaps we could even entertain the idea of a photography dark room.
I do think we should have a good place to do some kind of teleconferencing/video greenscreen/private meetings/what have you, and although we agreed that it could be done in the former Kitchen, other things and stations have taken up that space.
