I propose the lab purchase a 25 inch LaserPoint II Series (without stand): for $$409.98  (includes taxes and delivery).

Our current model has a failed board that would cost over $100 to replace as well as slop in both pinch rollers.

This would be an upgrade on our current model including the following advantages;
• Sturdier frame and updated control electronics
• Third roller clamp which helps with large or slippery pieces of material.
• Cutting force of 800 instead of 350.
• Laser Registration feature - allows contour cutting around graphics.
• Pen Holder (for plotting)

I personally will use this, and I have heard several active members had interest in being able to cut thicker materials. We do need a working vinyl cutter to go with our heat press for t-shirt making.

Part of me is telling me to just buy the new motherboard out of my pocket......I liked the old one...

A new one has the benefit of full factory support and some warranty with an option to buy a one year extension on said warranty.... I would suggest adding the purchase of the extension to the proposal.

If we don't void the warranty...
I wonder if we can extend the warranty later if we don't purchase that up front? It's $50 and I'm not sure someone won't do something outside the scope of warranty.

I'm reminded of the tech support caller I had claiming the riding lawn mower was damaged when carpet got caught under it. AND NO this will not be a dual vinyl/carpet cutter.

if memory serves the extended warranty an be bought at time of sale or immediately afterwards if memory serves.... they apparently don't like people waiting till the day before the factory warranty expires

This will be voted on at Thursday's HYH. Does anyone else have a preference for buying the extended warranty?
