We have low attendance problem at HYH and I'm hoping to get feedback on what we can do to encourage attendance. Please share your thoughts here.

I have a plan for 2025-01-09 to have the them "Search for the Lost Artifact". Maybe we will find the Dewalt Router and other interesting items that haven't been seen in a while.

HYH happens on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month. Because they are separate recurring events in the calendar if you want to copy them to your calendar you have to copy both.

It's just an idea until there's a date and time included.

Sometimes cool things just happen, but usually you have to plan them.

Get rid of cleaning, possibly. Make it a different night. Make it more of a social event.

Thursdays are just a no go for me personally. Ironically a weekend or Mondays would be the best. I know others have said Thursdays are bad days too.

My idea would be one Thursday and one other day each month.

Oh, Antonio, Changing one meeting to a different day each month is a good idea.

It is hard for me to make this on Thurs evenings.  I think changing the day is a great idea.  Perhaps on Sat?

I would not be available on Saturdays. Indeed, my evening calendar events now are:

2nd, 3rd, 4th Tuesdays
2nd and 4th Wednesdays
2nd and 4th Thursdays

Mornings are every Thursday, 2nd Saturday.

How about we put our availability here and we can decide from that?

We can put together a survey - not sure this is the right forum to check people's schedules.

Good morning
You could offer more classes that interest all people. You should listen to mainstream people.
Small interesting projects. I call them Make - & -Take type projects. I have suggested some before.
If interested I would be happy to meet with the board.

I prefer we not change the schedule. After a decade or so it's what it is. For me any change is likely to make it impossible for me to attend without abandoning some other group or meeting I've also made a priority for a decade or more. But, in all these matters, the group has to reach consensus, and I'll abide by that.

Rick I think we should vote on any possible to the HYH schedule at HYH. That will make it easy to keep it on Thursdays /s

I have no allegiance to specific times. I kind of appreciate that more things are happening asynchronously. That people can't make every HYH isn't a big problem to me. Just not seeing some people at all does suck. I want to encourage a positive engaging HYH and hopefully at least see most people at some of them. Landon is testing out a polling solution and after it's tested a bit more we can check in on availability and options in this area.

As far as ideas for brainstorming engagement I came up with a few others;
Bribe people with cookies.
Play a game of what's this with stuff found around the lab.
Invite someone to perform live music.
Have a slideshow of recent photos playing.

And in all that, my wife had minor surgery today and I'll probably need to attend to her this week. All that and I can't get to a HYH.
