July 9th has come and gone! It was a great turn out with lots of new and old familiar faces. Thank you immensely Tristan (Ry on discord) for taking all the notes and acting as secretary for the night. (24kb of minutes (Note: More people rolled in after initial member count was taken, hence the vote numbers exceeding) The minutes are pasted below the following but I figured I'd just share the outcome of all votes and some thoughts first: Justin Dragons Card access passed! 22 YES, 0 NO, 2 ABSTAIN VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE passes against David Lang 5 CONFIDENCE 45 NO CONFIDENCE Interim Co-Champion seat election Luis: 40 Rick: 9 Luis is now co-champion until the October election! Luis' proposal on removing the restriction of 1 nomination per year per cardholder from the bylaws passed as well. On a personal note, I like both Rick and Luis. No secret I was rooting for Luis, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if Rick won :P. While he and I disagree heavily on some personal values, he has genuinely always put the community first in my experiences with him at the lab. He has never shown me anything but respect and honesty. I consider him a valued member of this dysfunctional family we call HeatSync. Thank you both candidates for stepping up to offer your time and effort in service of this community <3 Because of the nature of everything leading up to this I want to be radically candid I think we were all nervous how last night was going to go considering all the contention and in-fighting, I am very very pleased to say that was one of the most well run respectable HYHs we've had. Huge thanks to Antonio for running things and making sure we moved along smoothly. Huge thanks to both candidates Rick and Luis for showing eachother respect and tackling hard questions with grace. Massive thanks to the community who carried themselves with professionalism through the entire process. Thank you David Lang for taking the outcome with equal grace and demonstrating professionalism. I hope you understand this was governance and not personal (though I can understand why you may feel differently) and I genuinely look forward to seeing you make stuff and help others do the same. Online we have had a history of not showing our best selves (myself included), last night I saw the best of what we can be when we handle tough things face to face. Some conflict is necessary to face head on (with respect, and love where we can spare it) despite how messy and uncomfortable it can get. Also shout out to everyone who brought food. Kirk brought Jerk Chicken and we picked up some pizzas from Goat and Ram, Mike Wolfson brought some desserts. I hope I'm not forgetting anyone. Milton suggested we do a lab feast every 31 days and said he would bring food for the next time. We still have a lot of repair to do in the fallout of getting here. I want to personally apologize for any times I acted immaturely or for any toes I've stepped on. Please feel free to reach out to me, I'm always happy to talk things out. In all of the events leading up to this, things were said that cannot be taken back. Some folks will have to reconcile that and accept you may not find resolution, but we cannot sit on past grievances, we must move forward.
