The reason that I could not sit in on the biological meeting is that I had already been invited to a soiree in San Francisco. As I am sure that one or more of you correctly put figured out from my mentioning San Francisco I was a Myth Busters event I was invited to. With all the recent commercials saying "One Last Episode", "One Last Myth to Bust", "One Last Build to make" I was beginning to feel and end to the fun but that would not get a chance at any true closure. Then, out of the blue, I get an email from Dan Tapster, the producer of the show on Wednesday Afternoon asking me and several others if I would like to come out to San Francisco to attend a special party of all the people who worked on the show conensiding with the airing of the very last episode. So even though my knees are still in bad shape and I can't walk very far, my finances are still in ruins and there is practically no time to get cheap air fare or hotel. So I said I was sorry and would just have to miss it.

Then I came to my senses and quickly booked a trip. I was so broke I initially planned on no hotel room and just travel back to the airport and wait there several hours until my early morning flight left. But fortunately my sister brow beat me into take a room (in a 2 star hotel, if that much). Checking out the BART stations I was able to get everything within 3/4 of a mile of each other. But I can't really walk 3/4 of a mile any more. And it was raining the whole time I was there and I didn't think to bring a coat for such a short trip. I was able to catch a taxi for some of the trips, but still walked the long walk back from the bar where the party was to my hotel room at 1:30 in the morning. Walking with a new knee on one side and a bad knee on the other is much harder work than I expected and I sweating pretty badly despite the lateness of the hour when I finally got to my postage stamp room. Up at 5:30 to catch the BART back to the airport only to discover it doesn't start until 9AM on Sundays and my flight leaves at 9:10 AM! Fortunately a taxi driver was waiting at the sign looking for customers just like me. $50 later and I am at the airport. Both airports were kind about wheel chairing me around from door to gate or back so I didn't wear out my knees on this part.

I got see and shake hands with both Adam and Jamie, but both were swamped with people who have been working with them virtually forever and wanted to get their last little 'hello. goodbye's in. And not surprisingly Jamie left fairly early on. Dan Tapster was about the only other person who knew me, and he being the head of the whole operation also knew everyone else and so was always busy talking to others. I did feel a bit left out, but I also would not have missed it for the world!
