We hacked our hackerspace!

Meeting was called to order by LANDON at around 7:30. Thanks to everyone - 14 members, 8 cardholders, and 4 board members who attended.

First on the agenda was a cardholder proposal by Austin for Brett Neese (that's me) - it failed, with 4 against, 3 in favor and 1 abstain.  Second were two proposals by Moheeb: Bylaws Proposal: Member-Called Special Elections
and Bylaws Proposal: Card Holder Requirement for Board Nominee. The final version of both was not prepared until about an hour before the meeting, so discussion was had, Moheeb is tweaking them, and they have tabled until the next meeting on Saturday, February 28.

Special thanks to Landon for cleaning the bathroom, Andre for sweeping, Sofia for cleaning the kitchen, Moheeb for mopping, Eric Ose for trash duty, Mala for cleaning the windows, Cynthia for cleaning the tables, and I handled lost and found.

The new 3D printers have been running well with no complaints so far, and Dragon will be coming back online soon. We also have new tables in the space thanks to Sheldon. In the wood shop, many updates are coming soon, and we’re hoping to have the area cleaned up sooner rather than later. Also, the Maslow is now fully operational and some discussion was had about its capabilities. The bio lab is no longer operating effectively as a bio lab and needs significant work - some conversation was had on the best way to go about that. We’re continuing work on debugging the new mini laser, the next step is to follow up with the manufacturer. Going forward, Jay will be hosting a Laser meetup once a month. In sewing, the recent serger meetup went very well — “quite wonderful,” by one account. In electronics, please do not leave items on the floor, as this has become a trip hazard. In the jewelry area, Cynthia is working on organizing, and will be setting up the pegboard. The bicycle area now has new tire patches and brake lines available thanks to Eric Ose.

Lots of upcoming events, too many to list. Check the calendar.

Next HYH: Saturday, February 28 at 10:00AM. (I would say see you then, but I will not see you then; Sofia and I are going to Japan, so that means we need someone else to take notes! I will happily share my running document if that would be helpful.)

Hey Brett, I appreciate the shout-out, but I was helping Nate Caine, and it was his project, not mine. He found them, paid for them, broke them down, contacted people to arrange transportation, helped load them and ensured we received them. Then, he helped unload briefly, but others at the lab joined in, allowing him to help someone else at the medal shop. THEN he put a few together and was going to do the rest but someone else took it over. Then he went around fixing wheels and otherwise repairing broken things.

That's just the parts of the story I happen to have firsthand experience with, there could be more. I played a TINY part in it and even that was only because Nate reached out to me.

Thanks Nate! The tables are a fantastic upgrade!

Sheldon
