We hacked our hackerspace! This was a big one. Thanks to all who hung on, all 13 members and 9 card members.

In particular, thanks to Landon for taking care of the bathroom, Rick for sweeping, Bryan for handling the trash, Jay for the windows, and Eric Ose for managing both the cleaning the tables and the lost and found. Station reports:
  • 3D printers

  • Display windows - We have a tree, thanks to Jay. DO NOT ENTER THE WINDOW AREA.

    • Spider chain is now missing from the display

  • Laser - laser is not being cleaned very well. People are being complacent, we had a small fire recently. Need to emphasize being close to the area.

  • Sewing - doing really well, lots of people are showing up! Now have one extra machine on permaloan thanks to Linda. Serger training in January. Newer embroidery machine is in use. New quilt shape cutter.

  • Vinyl

    • New dye sublimation printer, class on November 22.

    • Vinyl cutter can do .5MM

  • Electronics - people keep dumping, lots of sorting to do. Making work and expense for us. Need a pickup truck and a Mesa address.

  • Welding - TIG welder still down

  • Jewelry - Cynthia is coming back and gearing up to champion this station

  • Art - being cleaned up to be much more usable

    • Lots of Legos that need to be cleaned up

We also discussed:
  • Skipping our December 27 HYH (Saturday after Christmas.) Consensus here, with 12 in favor and 1 abstain, is that this is a good idea, but that it should go in front of next Saturday's HYH crowd for confirmation.
  • Our IT Infrastructure Inventory, thanks to all who contributed. We are working on cleaning up our IT infra.
  • The State of the Lab Report. There was an ask to get a better handle on donations vs subscriptions, the board plans on working on that, we also want to see about automating our financial reporting to the group. The blocker here is that we have to make sure the books are reconciled before sending out a report, and that the books get reconciled on time for that report to go out monthly so that it is accurate. There was a suggestion to talk to the CPA and the board plans on doing that. So we appreciate your patience as we sort this out. We plan on delivering another report in December and a projection for 2026 in January. There are two items that are causing us to be in the red this year - PayPal transaction fees and our accountant. For the PayPal transaction fees we are continuing to work with PayPal to get their lower rate for nonprofits, but it's been tricky. In the meantime we are setting up alternative payment methods, such as Zelle as an option but not a requirement. More on this soon, too. For our accountant, we're trying to see if we can reduce the need for a CPA.
  • Several proposals that are up for vote in December were discussed, but we did not get very far (see attached PDF for specifics). It was encouraged that the word "Proposal" be used in email subject lines only when final proposals are being brought to the table.
Finally, upcoming at HSL - we have two classes, Solder a Robot and Sublimation Printing and Pressing next Saturday at 2:00 and 5:00 respectively.

And we are having our first Friendsgiving in 6 years on Black Friday, 11/28 (time still TBD, but afternoon, wrapping up before laser certification at 6:45). RSVP here. Exciting!!!

I've attached the raw notes for the record in PDF format.
