Can Heatsync possibly use any of the following items? I would be happy to donate them.

There's a collection of various hobby motors, sensors, Pololu wheels, battery containers and fans, and small dc converters.

Hey Steve,
While we do have a lot of stuff like DC motors, I do want the chance to go through them. I have grandiose plans for the electronics station over the coming years, so if you bring them you can dump them somewhere kinda out of the way with a sign on them that says FOR SMITH. I'll be there no later than the first wednesday of August.

Yes, Arduino Night (probably time for a renaming) is the first Wednesday of each month. Check the calendar for the time, but I think it's 7-9.

I'm currently working through the problem at hand which is currently stated in my mind as:
"We have all this stuff and equipment that anyone can use, some is in labeled bins, but some is in boxes without labels and other stuff is in drawers that don't have matching labels. Some things have no homes, others have 12. Ooh look, this thing is cool, what do I do with it? I guess I just put it on this shelf instead of this other shelf."

My current approach (new as of this weekend) is to ignore the big picture for now. People who know what they're doing can kinda figure their way around and dig for stuff. People who are just learning are going to easily get overwhelmed by the situation and potentially give up and get discouraged.

VERY LOOSE PLAN
1. Identify and pull all basic components that could be considered useful to someone just getting started. For this category, I prioritize microcontroller dev boards, sensor and display modules, some of the commonplace discrete components like resistors, capacitors, LEDs, etc.
2. Organize it so that it's immediately useful.  This will look like some mix of these ideas:
a. Rolling carts that have small parts drawers and medium tool/consumable drawers
b. Refactoring of the file cabinets to make them more suitable to the job they're doing - initial ideas involve turning the faces of the drawers into drop-down hinged faces (they would become a little shelf for collecting parts, but not necessarily a work surface). This will require some moderate analysis on structural integrity, etc. But assuming that is workable somehow, then inside the drawer would be well-organized sets of small parts drawers, likely organized using GridFinity printable organization parts.

Beyond that I have concepts of plans around fostering curiosity and methods for turning that immediately into hands-on validated capabilities. As well as an effort to create classes based on community interest (survey coming soon).
