So I have some bad news for the woodshop.

I got the new bandsaw blade and went to install it today. on the upper side of the bandsaw, the bearing that is supposed to ride against the backside of the blade has had a groove etched into it which means it no longer turns and instead continuously rubs against the back of the bandsaw blade. Based on that groove and a similar groove in the throat plate it looks like the blade was too far back previously. We will need to replace that bearing before the saw is functional.

I apologize for the second double-send in as many days. My email server
is being cranky. I hope this will not be a third case. :D

Replacement bearing
There are options for larger quantities. If there are more worn bearings.

too bad we can't make it use the 608 (7x22x8) skate berings, they are dirt cheap
and easily available. oh well, we'd probably have to machine a new support head

I was considering if we should put the ZZ bearings in instead of a z bearing. As they are sealed on both sides in the future we could conceivably flip the bearing over to get double its life, however they are not as resistant to friction so im not sure how well they will perform in the high speed environment of the bandsaws case.

Hello,

The bearing has been flipped and the saw adjusted.  It is back in service.  I have ordered new bearings and cool blocks.  I should be able to replace everything tomorrow at HYH.
