Laser help this weekend? Ceramic stamp project, files ready, will donate

1. Hi HeatSync! I'm a local artist producing ceramic tiles for a museum show next spring, and I'm hoping someone laser-certified could help me out this weekend. I have final, cut-ready vector files (DXF/SVG) — four design layers that need to be cut from ~5mm plywood, each roughly 10×10", probably 45 minutes of laser time total. I'd bring my own material, and I'd plan to donate $50 to the lab for the time, plus a meal or coffee and pastry from whomever can help me out! Is there any open hours slot this Saturday or Sunday where someone could run the laser with? I'm flexible on timing and happy to work around whatever's already on the calendar. Thank you!

Hi Eric!  

Thank you so much for your help! Yay, 3D printer day — that's tomorrow, correct? I'm happy to work around your schedule, so whatever start time works best for you works for me.

One thing I want to flag: I'm new to HeatSync and haven't done a laser training yet; would it be okay to sign the waiver and have you run the machine with me or supervise? I'm familiar with laser cutters; it's just been a while since I've used one.

Two quick practical questions so I show up ready: does the laser bed handle 10"×10" sheets? And is there a file format your machine prefers? I have DXF and SVG ready, and can bring AI/PDF as well. I'll have everything on a USB drive and I'm bringing my own material (~5mm plywood, unless the laser prefers something else; please let me know).

Happy to get you some food and I'll make a donation to the lab while I'm there; does the lab take cash, card, or venmo/zelle?

This all works out. I can arrive at noon.

Yes both of our lasers will work for sizes up to 10" square. We have more info on our lasers in the Laser FAQ

SVG is fine, but the larger laser uses dxf files only. Bring both though and whatever your design is originally just in case.

I'm happy to help and have the necessary training.
