I am trhowing my hat in the ring for one of the two Champion positions.

I am new to HSL, but have been part of makerspaces since 2013, both big
commercial ones and community ones. In past community makerspaces, I have been
involved with budget issues, haivng to figure out where to shoehorn in a new
toos, having to move and find a new space, dealt with unruly guests and some of
the other issues beyond just using the tools provided.

I am a jack-of-all-trades which gives me an interest in supporting all stations.

As a new member at HSL, I bring a set of eyes that doesn't see things through a
'it's been that way forever' lens. However, I have the experience to recognize
that there was always a reason for things to be done the way they are (be they
resources, a strong opinion by someone, or just "we didn't know better at the
time"), so while I suggest a lot of things (and have already), I don't assume
that people who did things in the past were lazy or incompetent. I try to find
out why before pushing for change and listen to the 'why not' responses.

I strive to understand both sides of issues and propose something in the middle
that takes into account concerns of all sides. (for good or bad, you've seen
some of this in my responses on the camera threads). I don't read people well,
and so I've learned to work to understand where people I disagree with are
coming from.

Professionally, I am a very experienced Security Engineer with a strong
sysadmin/networking/programming background. I also run the 4th of July fireworks
show for the city of Torrance each year

As I understand it, HSL is currently living on it's savings, spending more each
month that we take in. Finding a way to address this is a high priority I do not
know current budget details so I can't propose changes at this point.

I see nothing in the board nomination emails this time that I disagree with in
terms of goals, I expect there will be good discussions on details as we
approach those goals.
