Today I came to the lab with the intent of getting our laser cutter working with the Windows 10 x64 box I built up.

And it works!

I heard that the windows 7 rig has been going fine, but I haven't put the new box into production just yet. The new box is a core i5 9400 with 8GB of DDR4 and a 512GB SSD! Ironically enough the integrated intel graphics are still faster than what is in the current replacement for the old XP machine. I think I will likely leave it that way for now unless someone donates a geforce 1050/radeon rx 5500 or better for us to stick in that machine. The computer is currently to the left of the laser until we get to it, the keyboard and mouse are on top of it, it's not attached to the laser right now, and it's attached to the DVI port of the monitor. I think there might be a conflict with the HDMI out on the motherboard and that monitor, so just use DVI for now. There's a button on the monitor which allows you to switch inputs should it be needed before we do the switchover. I copied all the user files as of today 07/06/2023 onto the new rig as well.

We may still get one more box from all the parts that were donated to the lab and the parts I put in, but we shall see. If anyone has any spare AMD Ryzen motherboards or CPU's, or on the intel side anything 9th gen core i5 or better that's collecting dust, we could likely use it! That leaves the computer running the 3D printer station and the little SFF dell running the small laser as the last of the remaining critical computers running at the lab.

The cutover has been completed after the qualification runs went well.

Let me know if there are any issues, the old computer is down below if it's needed.

We had a couple of issues with the Win 10 machine and the laser with regards to the pause and stop buttons in the software causing unintended behavior.
I believe they swapped back to the Windows 7 machine for now. I have a couple of things to try to see if that gets rid of the problem.

I upgraded the laser computer last night from 8GB to 16GB of DDR4
