I'm resigning from the board as champion

Hey Lab,
Effective immediately I'm resigning as board champion.

I am uncomfortable with hosting open hours and other events with the live cameras. Since I am no longer willing to host the open hours that fall under the responsibility of board champion, resignation seems appropriate.

The increased visibility of the new camera drove home just how invasive the live cameras are. I have never in my life given any corporation, app, or online service so much freedom to share details about me. Yet for the lab I did. The reason I did is that I really like what HeatSync Labs is about, both the lab mission and the people that make HeatSync Labs happen. This hasn't changed and I plan to do a lot to support the lab, just the things that won't have me physically in the lab nearly as often.

Honestly in many ways this is a big blessing for me as there are much more important things for me to focus on. I'll still probably overwhelm myself with too many project ideas that fit the new scope of what I'm comfortable with.

Some of the things that I'll continue with:
The Maslow CNC: This is fortunately going to be used outside. Things are still pending delivery so look forward to hearing more in the future.

CactusCon: Coordinating the HeatSync Labs presence for the hardware village/soldering village

Event updates and notifications: Adding events to the calendar, guestlist app, and sending email notifications.

I'm sure there are some other things that I'll figure out as I review my many lists.

This does mean that I am no longer hosting the laser certification (David is planning to teach this), laser meetup, young maker nights, and the Saturday and Monday open hours that I regularly would host. Plus the other events that I would randomly schedule (LEGO Days, Build-A-Bot, Tech Tear Apart)

Thanks for being on the board. I appreciate the many things you do for the lab.

As a former board member I really empathize with you and I hope you find ways to focus your newly available energy towards positive and healthy activities.

A handful of people have reached out to make sure I'm doing alright and honestly I am doing pretty good. Plans for CactusCon have started and I hope we have a good turn out despite that being on Valentines weekend. I'll understand anyone not being able to make that.

I want to give an update. Time will tell, but so far I'm still very uncomfortable with the live cameras so I will continue to spend less and less time at the lab.

I figured I'd give an update on the few tasks that people have stood up to help do, and the ones that are discontinued.

Big shout out to David Flores since he is continuing hosting of Young Makers, and Saturday Open Hours. He has also taken on the Laser Certifications. That's a lot.

Chris McLaughlin is hosting on Monday night open hours, and Linwood is helping on Saturday open hours.

Nobody has stepped up to help with New Member Orientations.

On the discontinued list laser related things: Monthly Laser Meetup, and the occasional project specific laser classes (Box Making, Stamp Making, Earrings, Laser Portraits, Inkscape design classes).

Other events I hosted that will not be getting scheduled: LEGO Day, Tech Tear Apart, Soldering (Bartholomew / Build-A-Bot).

There are a few other projects left unfinished like updates to the laser example book, or documentation on the Laser FAQ.

Updating the Hosting Spreadsheet, but that never really worked. If only 4 people are hosting and they are doing it on the 4 days per week every time having a place to coordinate coverage isn't as critical. I always felt it would be much better to divide the workload, but we have had so few people step up to co-host.

Anyway that's my update.

One failing camera was replaced.  Nothing changed with the rest of the cameras.
