Does HeatSync Labs have a grinding wheel for grinding/polishing glass?

I am making a vacuum chamber with a 2.5 gallon glass jar set upside down on a vacuum plate, for my physics and chemistry classes.  Unfortunately, the jar's lip is slighly off from flat and won't seal against the plate.  I just want to ground down the lip so that it is flat and then polish it a little so it looks professional.

I came by HeatSync Labs a few times years ago when I lived in Mesa and really enjoyed the atmosphere and opportunintues available.  Now I live in San Tan Valley and making the trip up there takes a good 30-45 minutes.  I just hope to verify if such a tool is available before making the trip.

Thanks,
Adam Thompson

Adam,

I don't know if the lab has glass grinding equipment but I know the SW Art glass shop does; https://www.meetup.com/SW-Art-Glass-Meetup/    The meetup is once a month but the shop/studio has regulator weekend hours.  I'm sure someone could help you or point you in the right direction if you give them a call:  https://www.swartglass.com/Location-and-Hours_ep_43.html

Thanks!

I have left them a voice message for SW Art Galss, and I am waiting for a response.  I will post the results here when I find out, in case someone is looking for something similar in the future.

SW Art Glass does have a grinding wheel, but it is currently disassembled.

However, they put me in contact with Newt Grover from NewtGlass.  He is awesome and helped me fix my vacuum chamber with his grinding wheel.  The vacuum chamber is now working beautifully.

I'm glad they helped you out!  Thanks for posting the updates, I'll remember that about newtglass in case me or someone else could use a hand.
