Rick ran us a HYH. Heres what happened:

meeting called to order 7:11 Rick facilitating
18 members
16 card holders present quorum
1 late entrant card holder
3 late entrant member

no fixed agenda

introductions were made around the room

old business

no old business mentioned

new business
Nate mentioned that hosts need to make sure doors are locked when host leaves

It was mentioned that junk (non related items) have been accumulating at stations in general, In addition it was noted that some members appear to be overflowing their member boxes

City of Mesa (COM) bollards being installed on McDonald should be completed by early sept

COM is rehabbing colonnade/frontage of our building and others. 2.5 months estimate, There is a plywood tunnel to our door for access, A frames can be placed outside to direct traffic during open hours or for events.

COM was asked about pigeon abatement as it as previously an issue currently says no plans for pigeon abatement

Building electric - The lab needs to pin out all circuits, identify amperage, draw, machines on the circuit, possibly add circuits, make sure all breakers are up to date, replace the breakers or panel if needed, possibly color plate the circuits outlets, eye for expansion. Antonio is leading this effort and has asked for 2-3 volunteers to assist, especially one with general contracting / journeyman electric experience.

First aid kit needs attention. medicines are out of date, All out of date supplies discarded. Need to replace resources, source and implement a heavy bleed kit, review ppe and replace if needed, Possibly create and place a map of nearby urgent care/er centers in case of emergency.

Saturday HYH will tentatively move to 10 am from 9 am.

Board elections are coming up, it was encouraged to all attending to attend the board election as well as possibly run. If wish to nominate themselves or other members should do so on the google groups thread SMP started.

Mention to be more cautious of language choice, try to use less combative /hostile language when talking to other members. A member mentioned that intent matters significantly more than word choice.

Formal grievance brought to the board on a recent code of conduct violation, jeff recused self from representing the board on this grievance, decision was made that due to medical SMP would not be eligible, darrell is on vacation, and jeff has recused, this left Sheldon as the eligible board member, determination of remaining 3 members determined by lots from all attendees.

14 - Jasper
17 - Trish
3 - Rick

Sheldon, Jasper, Trish, and Rick will work through the process as documented.

station reports

3d print - Rick is joining the station as the new co champion, all machines currently functioning but require new firmware and configurations, Ender dragon has had the heating cartridge and thermistor replaced but needs a new Pi power supply.  Briefly discussed tentative plans to replace the fleet of machines with newer better models.

sewing - want to add an additional machine but checking space. Discussed sewing using the furthest coworking table when sewing days occur for an additional long rectangular table to work on, luis agreed to allow use and offered to place the smallest monitors on that table and allow them to be moved to and from as needed

art - art cabinets have started being cleaned and straightened up, Kids art cabinet was first done and looks very impressive. Signage planned to indicate cabinet contents and welcome younger members to use supplies

photo -  all chems stocked and portioned out. No volatile chems currently in use

electronics - electronics is suffering from a surplus, too many parts to be sorted, too many donations being dumped into the electronics station that are not electronic related Could possibly use a dedicated day/group to clean and organize the station.

laser - everything is in good shape, no current faults. people need to be better at cleaning after use and logging machine, especially if there is a fault.

coffee and code / cowork - lot of developers have been attending including webdev, graphic designers, and other digital workers, not just coders

no other stations reporting at this time.

This is hands down the best HYH this lab has had in a really long time. Hope it keeps up this way for the sake of the lab! Good job everyone!

I agree with Mr Ruiz last night was excellent and very productive!

- I appreciate we will be improving the safety of HS both in terms of electrical management, and more formal "heavy bleed" first aid equipment.

- I would like to see a treasurer's report presented at future HYH events, even if it's a synopsis. I do understand (without going into detail) why one wasn't available last night.

- Finally I want to say "Thanks!" to Luis for working with me and my suggestion to shift the smallest and/or most portable computer screens to a specific table, to make it easier for an old guy like me, when hosting, to re-configure the table to accommodate the sewing group!

There is a reason the sewing group is so vibrant currently, and I don't just mean the amazing folks running it (and they are amazing). There is a consistency to being able to tell anyone interested in sewing that this group is always available on the 2nd Tuesday. I'd love to be able to say that about the other stations; we get a lot of interest when I am giving tours around the Jewelry station, and all I can really do it tell folks to watch the calendar and/or get on the slack channel. I'd much rather be able to say there was one particular night folks can show up and just meet some potentially new friends at one of the other amazing stations we have...

Sorry I had to bounce at 8:15pm, but things were running late and my wife was at home getting HANGRY. I don't like coming home to a HANGRY wife....  :-)

I just want to report that Craft Night has been picking up - we have about 4-5 people coming regularly now, working on a wide range of projects, and the last one in July we had a record 10 people! I don't have much experience with the jewelry station but feel free to recommend Craft Night as a good time to come and I'll do my best to help. We need to recruit a jewelry maker to come teach how to use the station though.
