Rick ran us a HYH (thanks Rick) with 9 members in attendance.

Old Business
It was noted that the biolab got cleaned up, with much appreciation to Moheeb and Devansh. In addition we noted for the record that the bylaws have been updated to reflect the recent HYH votes and board ratification of the following proposals:

New Business
BATHROOM SOAP DISPENSERS
A heads-up about our bathroom soap dispensers: they are Member's Mark brand and will only accept refills from that brand, which is sold exclusively at Sam's Club. Antonio is currently preparing a report on this and other lab chemicals, including recommendations on where the lab should be purchasing them going forward.

PLEASE DON'T JUST THROW THINGS AWAY
We have had issues lately with electronics and other items being dumped when they should not have been and would like to prevent that going forward. If you come across something in the lab (old electronics, etc) that is not obviously trash and you think should be discarded, please don't just toss it! Instead, mark it with one of the pre-printed parking ticket forms, which should be located near the Jewelry station. This gives others a chance to review items before they're gone for good (remember that saying about one person's trash...). There is also a free stuff bin in the front of the space. https://wiki.heatsynclabs.org/wiki/Parking_Ticket

FOOD WASTE REMINDER
Please try to centralize all food waste in either the front or back garbage cans. This makes it much easier for hosts to dispose of everything at once and prevents food from spoiling in other trash cans during the two weeks between Hack Your Hackerspace cleanups. Thank you for helping keep the space fresh!

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION
There was some discussion around refreshing our New Member Orientation. If you're interested in contributing, check out the current walk-through on the wiki and consider what could be improved. A filmed orientation was also floated as an idea worth exploring. https://wiki.heatsynclabs.org/wiki/Walk_Through_Orientation

BOARD FINANCIAL REPORT
Per our bylaws, the board convened our required once-yearly meeting with 3 board members in attendance and 2 absent. We presented a financial report from March 2025-March 2026, which was accepted by a member vote of 8 for / 1 abstention. We ended the period about $1200 in the black, largely thanks to individual member donations. Friendly reminder: Zelle and Zeffy do not take a cut of transactions — making them more cost-effective options for the lab. (Note: Zeffy tips go directly to Zeffy.)

Proposals
BYLAWS PROPOSAL — MULTIPLE OFFICERS FOR OPERATIONS ROLE
A proposal was brought forward to allow multiple officers to hold the Operations role, aligning that language with how other officer roles are structured. Discussion was lively — suggestions included treating IT as a station with a champion rather than an officer role. The proposal has been tabled for now. but members expressed interest in revisiting this proposal at a future meeting.

Upcoming Events
• Virtue Vending Art Show — This Saturday (today!), April 11, 1–6 PM
• Millet House Art Hive — Saturday, April 18, 1:30–4:30 PM
• Hack Night — Tuesday, April 21, 7:00-10:00pm

Thanks everyone for a great meeting and thanks to everyone who helped clean (I'm sorry, I forgot to grab the names). See you at the space!

Brett

PS - I keep a draft version of the notes in Google Docs, in case anyone wants to review the raw minutes. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1V82KZnjlw6RzJkJAA9vxTQZS5oPZu5kqaPmGITlIjTY/edit?tab=t.dpnz5er57085
