Draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2026 and policies - Consultation open
Draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2026 and policies - Consultation openKia ora, Weād like to hear what you think about our Draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2026, and two related policiesāthe Draft Litter and Illegal Dumping Policy and the Draft Community Waste Disposal Policy. The draft plan sets a clear direction for how we will manage waste over the next six years, focusing on tackling key challenges and reducing reliance on landfill across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula. The draft plan includes three new proposals for managing waste: - Investigating the separate collection and processing of glass bottles and jars.
- Introducing a new service focused on repurposing unwanted household goods and extending their useful life.
- Establishing a dedicated team to address litter and illegal dumping.
You find out more about the draft plan and the related policies and tell us what you think until 3 August 2026.
Talk to the team If there is a community meeting you would like us to attend, email us onĀ lets...@ccc.govt.nzĀ with the date, time and topics youāre interested in, so we can arrange for one of our team to be there. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the draft plan and policies, please get in touch. NgÄ mihi, Swantje Bubritzki ā Senior Engagement Advisor 03 941 8728
