CELEBRATION DAY FOR GIRLS - BACK IN THE HEATHCOTE VALLEY COMMUNITY CENTRE SUNDAY 8TH MARCH

This is a lovely day out for you and your daughter that can contribute to her health and well being as she heads into tween years and relationship with her menstrual cycle that could last decades. We believe in positive period preparation to empower awareness and understanding of her body during this new chapter of life.

The workshop runs as three sessions; first a meeting with just the mums or female elders one evening previous to the workshop (optional), then I work with just the girls on Sunday (10am - 1pm) and mums join in in the afternoon (1pm - 4pm). This is a whānau approach! And in essence a rite of passage - preparation, separation, transition, immersion.
Our pillars for learning are honouring (the age and stage), building knowledge and resources and connecting with others going through the same thing (the girls peers and also the mums/ female elders and community).

We keep hands busy with gentle arts and crafts and kai during the day while the wisdom and education of the physical stages of the menstrual cycle are sprinkled in. We also include the emotional/energetic stages of the Cycle as well as self care, widening cultural understandings and communication between mum and daughter.
