If you think your Facebook account has been hacked, you should change your password (make it long and strong) and check that the recovery accounts and phone numbers all belong to you.

Never post your phone number, email address or other personal information on a public forum. We cannot recover hacked accounts, lost or forgotten passwords. please see:

How do I Recover my Hacked Facebook Login Account?

If you receive an email that says you requested a password reset, somebody entered your email address or Facebook username when trying to log in. This may either be due to a typo, or somebody trying to break in to your account. If you click the link in the confirmation email, Facebook will reset your password. If you did not generate the reset request, however, you can safely ignore the email and your existing password will still work.

If you receive a second email confirming a password reset, somebody has followed through with the reset request. Because this process requires access to your email, somebody may have already broken into your email account. If you did not start the password reset process and you receive a reset confirmation, you should change your email password and use Facebook's compromised account process to regain control of your Facebook pages.

If you forget your Facebook password and need to reset it, click the "Forgot your password?" link on the Facebook login page. This will send confirmation to your email. Click the link inside the email to get a new password. If you know your password but want to change it, log in, click the gear icon and press "Account Settings." Open the "Password" tab and enter your old password along with a new password.

If we notice any strange activity on your Pinterest account, we'll send you an email, reset your password, and log everyone out (including you) to protect your account. To get back on Pinterest, reset your password. Or, if your account is connected to Google, Facebook or Apple and you've logged in that way before, log in with Google, Facebook, or Apple.

So, how do you know that someone is trying to access your account? First of all, you will be receiving emails to reset your password. Later you will notice suspicious activities on your account and finally, you will be locked out of it.

If you are getting Facebook password reset code texts and you did not request them, a hacker is trying to access your account. Hackers know that they can log in to any Facebook account by resetting its password.

If hackers have your email address, they will simply request a password reset code. By receiving a notification that you are trying to reset your password, you will know that something nefarious is going on.

Seeing messages you did not write, friend requests you did not send, posts you did not write, and profile changes you did not make; proves that a hacker is using your account.
Take the necessary steps to get rid of the hacker and prevent them from accessing your account again.

With the latest Facebook hacks, it is important for people to know if their accounts are being hacked so they can kick the cybercriminal out. If you see password reset emails, profile changes, friend requests you did not make, know something is fishy.

With hacking, someone has gotten into your account, often by stealing your Facebook password or your email password. For instance, the "IS THIS YOU?" video scam tricks Facebook users into clicking a link to view a video, but then takes them to a fake Facebook login page to steal their account credentials. Once hackers have access to your account, they can view all of your information and even lock you out of your own account.

If a hacker has access to your Facebook account, you can run into a snag: they may have changed the password so you can't access it. If you're trying to log on to Facebook and find your password doesn't work, you should see a "Forgot Password?" option. Facebook will be able to send an email to any of the email addresses associated with your Facebook account or a text to your phone. From there, follow Facebook's instructions.

To verify MFA using a recovery code your app must prompt the user for the recovery code, and then make a request to oauth/token with grant_type= -type/mfa-recovery-code. Include the collected recovery code and the mfa_token from the mfa_required error. If the recovery code is accepted, the response will be the same as for password or -type/password-realm grant types. It might also include a recovery_code field, which the application must display to the end-user to be stored securely for future use.

Warning: If you protect your personal account with two-factor authentication but do not know your password, you will need to start a two-factor authentication recovery request. For more information, see "Request help with two-factor authentication."

If you know your password for GitHub.com but don't have the two-factor authentication credentials or your two-factor authentication recovery codes, you can have a one-time password sent to your verified email address to begin the verification process and regain access to your account.

Note: For security reasons, regaining access to your account by authenticating with a one-time password can take up to three business days. GitHub will not review additional requests submitted during this time.

Click Send one-time password to send a one-time password to all eligible addresses associated with your account. Only verified emails are eligible for account recovery. If you've restricted password resets to your primary and/or backup addresses, these addresses are the only addresses eligible for account recovery.

A member of GitHub Support will review your request and email you within three business days. If your request is approved, you'll receive a link to complete your account recovery process. If your request is denied, the email will include a way to contact support with any additional questions.

If you have forgotten your password and you've lost access to your two-factor authentication credentials, you can start account recovery to regain access to your account. You'll need to verify your identity using a recovery authentication factor, such as an SSH key or previously verified device. If no recovery methods are available, you can choose to unlink your email address from your account.

Reset my password: Your account password is maintained by your login provider: Google, Facebook, Apple, [Nintendo, the Pokémon Company], or Niantic Kids. Here is information on how to reset your password with each provider: Google, Facebook, Apple, [Nintendo, the Pokémon Company], and Niantic Kids. Be sure to check your spam or junk folder if you don't receive the password reset email promptly.

From there, things only got worse. Hogue requested a password reset email, but it was sent to an address belonging to the hacker. The criminals also changed the phone number associated with her account.
